Magic Alfresco

It all started with this image from the incredible Spoutwood Faerie Festival this past weekend.  The event is held yearly, is incredibly mythic and magical, and this little location just screamed magical calm sanctuary to me.

Add to that the fact that I've been unable to keep my mind indoors, as I mentioned, and the fact that our wonderful tree in the backyard has been taunting me to host a fancy tea party under it ever since we moved in, and...well...you may see where I'm going.

There's hardly a thing outdoors that seems more Domythic to me than romantic dining in nature.  One major goal of interior Domythic decor is to bring the magic of nature indoors.  So of course it makes sense that it would also be magical to try to create a cozy and domestic space in nature.

  1. Lanterns hanging from trees - wonderful :-) My small garden has a beautiful old apple tree in the middle of it - we wassail him every year and every year the Old Apple Tree Man gives us so much fruit in return. Looking at these pictures, it strikes me that all I need to do is grow some screening between us and our domythicless neighbours' gardens and we'd have a wonderful outdoor tea party space! Thanks for the inspiration :-)

  2. huzzah! Some of my favorite things right here. I am definitely going to have to hang a bed from a tree some time.

  3. Stevieannie, I absolutely love the ritual of wassailing. And it thrills me to no end that people still do it!! If you create a tea party space, please do share pictures!

And same, Linds, if you hang a tree bed :)
